About Us

Food security is about human dignity.

The Coalition for Food Security Puerto Rico (CFSPR ) was created to engage in nutrition aid efforts after Hurricanes Irma and María hit and devastated the island in 2018.

The coalition leads a bipartisan effort to ensure food security in Puerto Rico.

Our
Mission

To promote food equity and security through collaboration, education and advocacy in order to ensure that all residents of Puerto Rico have access to sufficient and nutritious food, particularly in times of crisis.

You can do something.
Exercise your power.

For decades, U.S. citizens in Puerto Rico have been excluded from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that all other U.S. citizens are entitled to and benefit from. As a result, U.S. citizens on the island struggle daily with food insecurity and poverty. The disparities and inequities created and sustained by Puerto Rico’s exclusion from SNAP must end. We call for legislative action to integrate Puerto Rico into SNAP. Let’s be fair.
