We know that unfair exclusion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has exacerbated food insecurity and poverty in Puerto Rico. Many of our fellow U.S. citizens are suffering as a result.
We know that the current Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP) is wholly inadequate to serve the needs of more than 1.4 million U.S. citizens living in Puerto Rico. Meanwhile, U.S. citizens living elsewhere in the U.S. receive SNAP benefits.
We know that it’s time to act to support food equity in Puerto Rico.
